Read the passage below and answer questions 26 to 30.
Elsa was now twenty-seven months old, almost full grown. George and I had always known that we could not keep her free indefinitely at Isiolo. Our original idea had been to send her to join her sisters at the Rotterdam Zoo and we had even made the necessary arrangements in case an emergency should arise. But now she had taken her future into her own paws and her latest developments were decisive in altering our plans for her.
We had been so fortunate to be able to bring her up in her natural environment. She seemed so much at home in the bush and was accepted by other wild animals. Elsa might well prove to be the exception to the rule that a pet would be killed by its own kind because of its human smell and ignorance of bush life. Hence, to release her back to the wild would be an experiment well worth trying.
We intended to spend two or three weeks with her; then if all went well, we would take our long leave. Next, we had to consider where to release Elsa. Unfortunately, Isiolo was far too populated for us to let her go wild. We knew of an area which for most of the year was devoid of inhabitants and livestock but had an abundance of game. We received permission to take Elsa to this place and made the necessary arrangements. The rains were expected any day, so we had no time to lose if she were to reach her possible future home before they began.
In order to get to this area, we would have to travel five hundred and forty-four kilometers; crossing the highlands on our way and also the great rift valley. We decided to travel at night for fear that Elsa might not be able to take the heat of the day. We settled to start about seven in the evening but Elsa had other ideas. Before setting off, we took her out for her usual walk to her favourite rocks, across the valley from our house. There I photographed her for the last time in her home.
By then, it was time to get back to the house and to start off on a long journey. Elsa sat herself on a rock and gazed across the valley and nothing would move her. Obviously she had no intention of walking back and expected the car to be brought to her. All hope of making an early start was gone. George went home, fetched the car and came back to the foot of the hills where we had left Elsa. She was no longer there and had apparently gone for her evening stroll. He called to her but there was no response. Not until eleven at night did she reappear, jump on to the roof of the Land rover and consent to be driven home. (Adapted from Leaving Home)

Read the passage below and answer questions 71 to 80. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS IN COMPLETE SENTENCES.
"I'll retire only when I can't do it anymore," Roy said, alluding to his physical strength necessary to handle the 270-kilogram tigers that were the centrepiece of the performances. To a man so fit and lithe, that day seemed a long way off. For Roy, whose white tiger magic thrilled the audience in live animal shows, it was a night of terror. Roy tamed the tigers by bonding with them through affection conditioning, raising tiger cubs from birth and sleeping with them until they were a year old. "When an animal gives you its trust," Roy said, "you feel like you have been given the most beautiful gift in the world." However, on that night, that was broken.
Forty-five minutes into the show, Roy led out Montecore, a seven-year-old white tiger. There was a woman with a red headdress in the front row, which fascinated and distracted Montecore. She reached out and attempted to pat the animal. The 170-kilogram cat, confused by the break in the routine, strayed towards the edge of the stage. Roy leapt to put himself between Montecore and the front row. The tiger kept coming. Roy gave him a command to lie down but Montecore refused, gripping the trainer's right wrist with his paw. Roy lost grip of the chain around the tiger's neck. "Release!" Roy commanded the tiger to let go of his arm. Montecore relaxed his grip, but Roy tripped and fell on his back. Immediately, Montecore was on top of him, clamping his powerful jaws around Roy's neck.
Many believed the stress of the situation could have caused Montecore to turn on the man who had worked with him almost daily since he was six months old. Horrified stagehands jumped on the cat. It had to be restrained quickly or the result would be lethal. They sprayed the tiger with a fire extinguisher to get him to free Roy but the confused tiger was resolute. He leaned over Roy and dragged his master offstage. The stagehands beat the animal's head with the end of the extinguisher. Eventually, Montecore reluctantly relinquished Roy and ran into his cage.
Although the puncture wounds caused Roy to lose blood, there was no damage to his neck. While being taken to the hospital, Roy said, "Montecore is a great cat. Make sure no harm comes to him." According to Siegfried, Roy's partner, when Roy fell during the act, Montecore was attempting to drag him to safety, as a mother tigress would pull one of her cubs by the neck. Siegfried said if Montecore had wanted to injure Roy, the tiger would have snapped his neck. However, animal behaviourists believed that Montecore was on his way to delivering a killing bite, much as a tiger in the wild would bring down an antelope. "They're predatory carnivores, so who can really know what goes on in their minds?" (Adapted from 'Siegfried and Roy: The Night of the Tiger Attack' by Alanna Nash)
