Memorize Anything With a Memory Palace!

Imagine you could remember a whole list — spelling words, science facts, even a shopping list — without writing it down.

Memory champions all over the world use one secret trick. It is called the Memory Palace, and it is over 2,000 years old!

💡 The big idea: your brain is amazing at remembering places and silly pictures. A Memory Palace joins them together — you "store" pictures of things inside a place you know well, like your home.

Ready to build your first palace? Let's go! 🚶

Step 1: Pick a place and a route 🚶

Your palace is just a place you know really well — like your home! You always walk through it the same way. That path is your route.

Imagine walking into your home: first the front door, then the kitchen, then the sofa, then the bed.

Your turn: tap the 4 spots in that walking order!

🚪 Front Door 1 🍳 Kitchen 2 🛋️ Sofa 3 🛏️ Bed 4

Step 2: Silly pictures stick! 🤪

Your brain forgets boring things fast. But it never forgets something funny, giant, or super weird!

Game: in each round, tap the picture that is easier to remember.

Step 3: Place pictures along your route 📦

Let's memorize this shopping list by putting a silly picture at each stop of your route — in order:

Tap the spot on the route where the glowing item goes. Remember: stop 1 is the front door!

Now the magic: walk and remember! ✨

Close your eyes for a second… now walk your route in your head. At each stop, what silly picture did you leave there?

Tap the item that belongs at the glowing spot.

Your palace works for anything! 🎒

Any list can live in your palace — just put one silly picture at each stop. Tap to see how students in Singapore use it:

📝 Spelling words
Word: "island". Picture a tiny island floating in your bathtub, with a coconut tree waving at you. Weird pictures make tricky words stick!
🔬 Science facts
The 3 states of matter? Put an ice cube at the door (solid), a puddle on the kitchen floor (liquid), and steam puffing from the sofa (gas)!
🈶 听写 / Mother Tongue words
Learning 马 (horse)? Picture a horse galloping across your bed wearing school shoes. One funny picture per word, one stop per word!
🏠 Grow your palace: your home can have 10, 20, even 30 stops — the lift lobby, the shoe rack, the window… More stops = longer lists you can remember!
🏆

You built your first Memory Palace!

  2. 2Make silly pictures — giant, funny, weird things are impossible to forget!
  3. 3Place one picture at each stop along your route, in order.
  4. 4Walk the route in your head to remember everything — forwards or even backwards!
🌟 Challenge: tonight, try memorizing your timetable for tomorrow using your own home. Eggs on the door worked — what will YOU put there?

Amazing work, memory champion! 🎉
