Grilling Salmon

Salmon is a pink fish that is super tasty and good for you. When we grill it, we cook it over heat until it turns soft and flaky.

Those stripes are the salmon's natural lines. Yum!

🧺 Step 1: Gather what you need

Before cooking, a good chef sets out everything first. Tap each item to add it to your tray!

💡 Salmon, oil, salt and lemon make a simple, delicious meal. The other things don't belong on a grill!

Gently pat the salmon dry with a paper towel. Dry fish gets a nicer golden crust!

Then rub on a little oil, and sprinkle salt evenly — like gentle snow. Tap the fish to sprinkle the salt!

💡 A pinch goes a long way — even sprinkling makes every bite tasty.

The grill should be medium-high — hot enough to sizzle, but not so hot it burns. Slide the dial to find the happy zone!

💡 Too cold and the fish stays raw and mushy. Too hot and the outside burns black before the inside cooks. Medium-high is just right! 🔥

🔄 Step 4: Cook, then flip just once

Place the salmon skin-side down first. Let it cook quietly for a few minutes — don't poke it! When it lifts off easily, flip it one time.

💡 Flipping too many times makes the fish fall apart. One good flip is all it takes.

✨ Step 5: The flake test

Cooked salmon turns from shiny-dark to soft pink and breaks into gentle flakes when you press it with a fork. Tap the salmon to test it!
